The CEMIOS project was established by the Competence Center (CC) Aerospace Biomedical Science and Technology (ABST) which belongs to the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts since the end of 2012. The CC ABST is specialized in biomedical research under microgravity conditions. A subject of research is the study of mechanobiological processes in cells.
Within this research topic two bachelor students have developed a payload concept for an experiment on a sounding rocket of the REXUS program in the spring semester 2014. The measuring chamber of this experiment was earlier successfully tested and carried out on so-called parabolic flights. The current payload concept has been taken up and further developed by a new interdisciplinary student team in the fall semester 2014.
The Lucerne University and the CC ABST intend to get attention to the Swiss Space Research with the CEMIOS project and the participation on the REXUS program. In addition, new students should be persuaded to enroll themselves for an engineering studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
